As I set here, The midnight train is blowing its horn rolling down the tracks to its final destination. Below me in her dining room, My mother travels toward her final destination as well, she has been diagnosed with inoperable terminal cancer. She can’t eat much, she throws up all the time, and she is weaker than I have ever seen her in my life. I’m losing my mother far too soon. I always assumed I had at least 10 to 15 years before I had to start worrying about her. I was so, so wrong. I now have at best a few months, but in all honesty I’m praying she can make it for the next two months at least. I believe my mother will go to heaven, because she was a genuine Christian.
You see there are various types of Christians. They range from the most honest and sincere to the most superficial, to the outright sinful. The lord says, we are to love our neighbor as our brothers and sisters. We are tough that Love is the fulfillment of the Commandments and Law’s of G-d. We are asked to be selfless and persons of integrity. However not all peoples who call themselves Christian embody the teaching of Christ. From here out we’ll discuss different “Archetypes” of Christian.
I suppose the first type we can talk about is the “Barbie Christians”. These are the people that go to church because they think that that will ensure a nice house and a nice car and a nice “Barbie” life. When these things fail to materialize they claim G-d has forsaken them or that G-d must hate them and they leave the church and G-d behind in pursuit of material possessions. Don’t be fooled into thinking G-d is there to serve you. No my brother or sister, you are there to serve G-d! Praise Jesus there is hope for these people. All is not lost, yet it may take a while for these types to return. Keep the faith and pray for them
The second Type We’ll discuss is the “Bible Thumper”. These people mean well the problem is they do more harm than good. Nobody wants to hear someone else quoting scripture to them in an attempt to show them the way to G-d and Jesus. It’s not that there bad people, they just don’t understand how to teach the ways of our lord. Christ teaches us that we are to be examples to others, that they may see our Christianity by our actions and know our master through our deed. When we show honor, integrity, and a joyful spirit, we shine like a city on a hill for all to see.
The third type, which is probably the worst type of Christian is the “Weekend Apostle” These are the Guys and Girls that go to church to be forgiven for the previous weeks life of sin. This type will knowingly and willingly commit sin after sin because they figure they have the time. They’ll be forgiven when they go to church. These are the ones that often leave the church never to return. They end up addicted to drugs and booze and let them ruin their life, and if their fortunate they will find their way back to G-d and be a “Genuine Christian”
And Finally we’ll speak on the “Genuine Christian” . A Genuine Christian has learned that people are people and they make mistakes. They understand that Love is the path to Joy and G-d is the path to love. They reserve judgment to Christ and Christ alone. They know that in G-d the father through Christ Jesus we are made whole and new again. They understand to be born again is to Be made a new creature, even if it’s a slow process. They place aside the things of the world and fight a spiritual warfare. They understand that they will never understand the will of G-d and know that G-d reveals to us his will for our life in his desired time.
This list is just the tip of the iceberg, but I bet you know one of these types. If there not the genuine type then pray for them, pray for their heart to be open to G-d’s will in their life. That they may receive the blessings that G-d has set aside for them. With enough prayers perhaps they can find the righteous path, I did. Thanks to my mother and grandmother. Without their prayers I’d most likely be in jail for something stupid. Anyhow think about this ninja, What type are you.
