Sermon: Homie, It's Cold Outside By Rev Last Rite

Posted on December 24th, 2011

To all who read this Sermon Greetings,

It has been a long time since my fingers have touched keyboard to write a sermon.  Even now it is difficult to formulate thoughts, words, and meanings.  It seems like a mountain of opposition is against Words of Peace to be given to the ears of the those who would listen.  My Military Career has placed me in situations that are both interesting, challenging and memorable.  Most challenging is juggling Life as a Sailor, Life as a Father, Life as a Husband, and Life as a Minister.  If you notice I didn't put Life as a Juggalo, fore I feel that being an older Juggalo encompasses all these things.  The one thing that I can tell, upon my return to Virginia Beach is the lack of Family Love and Respect.  It seems that in my absence, everyone began to hate one another.  This saddens me greatly.  But the Xmas Season, regardless of culture or religion, presents a worthy opportunity.  It is the chance to celebrate Birth, celebrate Life, remember the Past, rekindle the flames of human bonds and rebuild the bridges that were once broken.  The Holiday Season presents the opportunity to start anew, with Future endeavors and a chance at New Beginnings that can change one's gloomy outlook on Life.

The problem that we have is that each one of us have bridges that we have shattered beyond recognition.  I, myself, included have relationships that I have tanked and destroyed like Gundam Wing Zero's Beam Cannon splattering a Zaku in the face, mad love to those who know what I just said.  But, I know that I mustn't segregate myself from those who care because Homie, It's cold outside.  What are we but empty shells without Love?  No one to laugh with or share in a memory.  No one to feel our pain when we are down, or to give comfort and an uplifting word.  Dang Homie, It's cold outside.

Let the spirit of the season move beyond decorations, fat commercialized bastards that bring presents, or some pumpkin pie.  Open your hearts and minds to people less fortunate than you.  Listen to a ninja's problems and bend an ear.  Or simply lend a smile.  Peace towards Man is only possible if you are willing to give it and He/She is willing to Receive it.

Much Family Love

Parable Of The Sower

Posted on June 3rd, 2011

Sup Juggalos,

You know that music is a media.  Art is a media.  Literature is a form of media.  Different forms of media are used to convey messages in different ways.  The Bible tells a story that is both in rhythmic poetry and in prose.  It can provide knowledge, inspire, enhance faith, shock and confuse.  Such the same can be said about other forms of media.  I believe that one can easily said that music can do the same thing.  Like other forms of media art, the Bible isn’t straight forward and sometimes like a Picasso needs interpretation.  Christ’s Parables is an example of the use of a riddle to bring forth thought and meaning.

Matthew 13

The Parable of the Sower

1 That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake. 2 Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat in it, while all the people stood on the shore. 3 Then he told them many things in parables, saying: “A farmer went out to sow his seed. 4 As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. 5 Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. 6 But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. 8 Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. 9 Whoever has ears, let them hear.”

10 The disciples came to him and asked, “Why do you speak to the people in parables?”

11 He replied, “Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them. 12 Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. 13 This is why I speak to them in parables:

   “Though seeing, they do not see;
though hearing, they do not hear or understand.

14 In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah:

   “‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding;
you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.
15 For this people’s heart has become calloused;
they hardly hear with their ears,
and they have closed their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
   hear with their ears,
   understand with their hearts
and turn, and I would heal them.’[a]

16 But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear. 17 For truly I tell you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.

18 “Listen then to what the parable of the sower means: 19 When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path. 20 The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. 21 But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. 22 The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful. 23 But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”

REV’S TAKE

The same can be said for Our Family. How many times must speak about values, charity, goodwill, and the meaning of Family?  Yet so many have come into our Family screaming Juggalo only to be plucked away by the bird of drama, violence, and greed (or the need for attention).  They have eyes but they do not see the glory of Shangri La.  They have ears and yet they do not heed the Call of the Carnival.  Some run full on into this Family not fully understanding that we are not without our shortfalls and yet they become disappointed and lose Faith.  But there are those who do feel that this Family extends far beyond where the next party or concert lies.  There are those who with strong conviction and feeling uphold the traditions of caring for our brothers and sisters both in the physical and in spirit.

Wisdom Stands The Test Of Time

Posted on February 21st, 2011

Sup Juggalos,

I recently got some new hardware and software that I have been trying out to improve our Radio Broadcasts.  So, unfortunately, I was unable to pull things together and get a broadcast out last Sunday.   I have recently been given some interestingly good news.  I have been contacted by an Individual who has been interested in doing an interview with me for an Australian TV Documentary covering different types of spirituality.  So they have agreed to come meet with me at my house with a camera crew.  They have also agreed to do the interview Live on MyJuggaloSpace Radio.  So please look forward to dates and times for that.

Now Let me jump into some Book of Matthew.

Matthew 11

Jesus and John the Baptist

1 After Jesus had finished instructing his twelve disciples, he went on from there to teach and preach in the towns of Galilee.[a]

2 When John, who was in prison, heard about the deeds of the Messiah, he sent his disciples 3 to ask him, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”

4 Jesus replied, “Go back and report to John what you hear and see: 5 The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy[b] are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor. 6 Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.”

7 As John’s disciples were leaving, Jesus began to speak to the crowd about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed swayed by the wind? 8 If not, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? No, those who wear fine clothes are in kings’ palaces. 9 Then what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. 10 This is the one about whom it is written:

“‘I will send my messenger ahead of you,
who will prepare your way before you.’[c]

11 Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet whoever is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12 From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been subjected to violence,[d] and violent people have been raiding it. 13 For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John. 14 And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come. 15 Whoever has ears, let them hear.

16 “To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others:

17 “‘We played the pipe for you,
   and you did not dance;
we sang a dirge,
   and you did not mourn.’

18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’ 19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ But wisdom is proved right by her deeds.

REV’S TAKE:

What I find most interesting about this passage is the fact that even though it is ages old it still holds true today.  So many rebel against Faith or (for those who do not believe) rebel against personal responsibility.  No one is perfect.  We are all sinners.  But when you try to do something good.  When you try to do something positive not just for your Life but for others as well…you see those naysayers out there who try to discredit you and who try to demonize you.

I have said this multiple times and have preached many a sermon.  More than I have had the opportunity to write down.  I have talked about an opportunity.  The opportunity for generations of Individuals, both Juggalo and non-Juggalo to achieve a cohesiveness of cultures.  It is a chance to step away from the chains of ill will and embrace change and open our hearts to the Carnival and to one another.  But so many times we have asked for a call to Faith or even at its basic we’ve asked for a strengthening of the bonds of Family.  As the passage says “To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others:

17 “‘We played the pipe for you,
   and you did not dance;
we sang a dirge,
   and you did not mourn.’

But to the Juggalo Nation I re-word this passage to help you relate to what we are talking about here.

“To what can we compare our Juggalo Nation?  They are like children who sit on their steps and we said

‘We offered you Faygo,

And you did not drink.

We’ve shared in your pain

And you still hurt us.’

How much longer must we say Family and yet you stay silent and do not hug?  How much longer do we try to remind people of values and yet you spit at your neighbor?  And when someone tries to utter words of peace you gnash your teeth and say cult.  When someone talks of responsibility they are called ‘fake’.  When someone questions the collective then they are accused of not being Family.  “But wisdom is proved right by her deeds.”

There is a difference between Intelligence and Wisdom.  Intelligence is a level of knowledge that is short term.  It is a measure of one’s knowledge in the now.  Wisdom stands the test of time.  It is a level of knowledge that is based on experience.  It cannot be taught in text books.  So let us use Wisdom to govern our actions.  Let us recognize what is good and what is right.  Let us embrace what is different and look towards peace.

Road To Recovery

Posted on January 25th, 2011

Sup Juggalos,

I just want to clarify some things in the beginning of this sermon so that you can see where the Fellowship Of Juggalos is currently at.  I’m going to be honest.  Since I moved from Virginia to Maryland, the actions, impact and participation within and throughout the Fellowship Of Juggalos has lessened drastically.  I want to apologize to Rev. Wicked Wyatt who has tried tirelessly to rekindle the roaring fire that was once FOJ.  I want apologize to Mark because of my inability to join him in this cause.  As I’m sure all of you have noticed my participation on both the web and throughout the Community has been lacking.  Sermons barely get posted, my web presence has dropped.  I believe that the cause of this is due to my Shift work schedule.  Having barely little time to log on and conduct business has made things difficult.  As it stands now, I am only able to go onto MJS once a week and my myspace is virtually useless.  My second in command, Arch Minister Dave, is (like me) working constantly to support his family.  Giving the current difficulties, I have decided to bring FOJ back to the basics.  One minister preaching on the radio.  I will still send out sermons when I can.  Worry not, this does not spell the end of those who preach Juggaloism and those who preach for FOJ.  Sermons still spread out across cyberspace.  Pastor Peezy joins the chorus on the newly re-imagined www.juggalofaith.com .  Fear not, I have built FOJ from the ground up and I have re-built FOJ from the ashes on more than one occasion and I shall do the same when I return to VA.  My doors shall open once again to Juggalos looking for an ear to bend, a scrap of food, a sip of faygo, or just a place to chill.  The words of the Carnival shall continue to ring out to any who will listen.

Now let me speak of our Recovery.  As a church can be rebuilt from its ashes by the will of its parishioners then so too can then our lives be rebuilt from its ashes by the will of the Individual.  Even though as it seems that our lives have crumbled to the ground and happiness feels so out of reach, we can choose by the grace of the Carnival to lift ourselves up.  Scrub away the stains of the past as a new slate is given to us.  As we know from prior teaching that for each door closed another is opened.  As each opportunity fades another is laid before us.  We need only to reach out and grab for it.  We need only to grab the knob and walk right through.  But how can we walk through new doors of opportunity if we continue to plant our roots in lands that lack opportunity.  How can we move forward if we allow so much and yet so little to hold us back.

Some cultures have ritual and ceremony to mark ends of an era.  It is designed to wipe out past mistakes and past sorrows.  It also allows you to hope for a new life.  So if it is a new life that you need then drop the overbearings of the old life.  I don’t care what it is; relationships, drugs, employment and overall success.  I don’t care where you start.  You must start someplace.  You must find and make your happiness happen.  Point yourself into a direction and determine how you are going to get their next, because for each step you take forward now leaves you one step away from where you were.  Get up, brush the dust off and walk onto your road to recovery.

What Type Are You?

Posted on January 11th, 2011

As I set here, The midnight train is blowing its horn rolling down the tracks to its final destination. Below me in her dining room, My mother travels toward her final destination as well, she has been diagnosed with inoperable terminal cancer. She can’t eat much, she throws up all the time, and she is weaker than I have ever seen her in my life. I’m losing my mother far too soon. I always assumed I had at least 10 to 15 years before I had to start worrying about her. I was so, so wrong. I now have at best a few months, but in all honesty I’m praying she can make it for the next two months at least. I believe my mother will go to heaven, because she was a genuine Christian.

You see there are various types of Christians. They range from the most honest and sincere to the most superficial, to the outright sinful. The lord says, we are to love our neighbor as our brothers and sisters. We are tough that Love is the fulfillment of the Commandments and Law’s of G-d. We are asked to be selfless and persons of integrity.  However not all peoples who call themselves Christian embody the teaching of Christ. From here out we’ll discuss different “Archetypes” of Christian.

I suppose the first type we can talk about is the “Barbie Christians”. These are the people that go to church because they think that that will ensure a nice house and a nice car and a nice “Barbie” life. When these things fail to materialize they claim G-d has forsaken them or that G-d must hate them and they leave the church and G-d behind in pursuit of material possessions. Don’t be fooled into thinking  G-d is there to serve you. No my brother or sister, you are there to serve G-d!  Praise Jesus there is hope for these people. All is not lost, yet it may take a while for these types to return. Keep the faith and pray for them

The second Type We’ll discuss is the “Bible Thumper”. These people mean well the problem is they do more harm than good. Nobody wants to hear someone else quoting scripture to them in an attempt to show them the way to G-d and Jesus. It’s not that there bad people, they just don’t understand how to teach the ways of our lord. Christ teaches us that we are to be examples to others, that they may see our Christianity by our actions and know our master through our deed. When we show honor, integrity, and a joyful spirit, we shine like a city on a hill for all to see.

The third type, which is probably the worst type of Christian is the “Weekend Apostle” These are the Guys and Girls that go to church to be forgiven for the previous weeks life of sin. This type will knowingly and willingly commit sin after sin because they figure they have the time. They’ll be forgiven when they go to church. These are the ones that often leave the church never to return. They end up addicted to drugs and booze and let them ruin their life, and if their fortunate they will find their way back to G-d and be a “Genuine Christian”

And Finally we’ll speak on the “Genuine Christian” . A Genuine Christian has learned that people are people and they make mistakes. They understand that Love is the path to Joy and G-d is the path to love. They reserve judgment to Christ and Christ alone. They know that in G-d the father through Christ Jesus we are made whole and new again. They understand to be born again is to Be made a new creature, even if it’s a slow process. They place aside the things of the world and fight a spiritual warfare.  They understand that they will never understand the will of G-d and know that G-d reveals to us his will for our life in his desired time.

This list is just the tip of the iceberg, but I bet you know one of these types. If there not the genuine type then pray for them, pray for their heart to be open to G-d’s will in their life.  That they may receive the blessings that G-d has set aside for them.  With enough prayers perhaps they can find the righteous path, I did. Thanks to my mother and grandmother. Without their prayers I’d most likely be in jail for something stupid.  Anyhow think about this ninja, What type are you.

G-d Bless                                                                                                                                                                               Pastor Peezy

Holding Onto Christmas

Posted on December 12th, 2010

Sup Juggalos,

This time of year is usually very difficult for people who feel alone.  The feelings of loneliness do not have to limited to those who have no one around them.  Some people are surrounded by people but also feel very alone.  This feeling of despair is greatly increased during the Holiday Season and it is times like these that we need to be reminded that truly as Juggalos or even just as spiritual people we are never alone.

It’s funny… I’ve been watching the TV with my children and we have seen Rudolf, Frosty and the Miracle at your Mom’s Street, but with all the different religious celebrations from various cultures across the globe happening during these Holidays all I see is the fat red-robed bastard.  Commercialism is rampant during the Holidays.  Quick it’s September let’s put out the candy and costumes.  Now before we’re done with that let’s put the costumes at half off and start pimping those turkeys.  Before we have a chance to even stop and wonder what the hell we were Thankful for you better fight off the crowds, evade reduced price raging shoppers and try not to get stabbed over the new XBOX Kinect.  Has the Blackness of Black Friday corrupted what was meant to be Joy for the Season.

Alas, there are other things that have become tradition over the Holiday Season, like spending time with your Family.  Normally we come together and gather and someone’s house to either enjoy the pleasantness of Family getting together and catching up, or indulge in our favorite game of name that Drama Queen.  Regardless of the quirks that some families have it’s good to see how everyone is doing with their Life.  But Not everyone has a functional Family.  Coming from a dysfunctional Family I fully understand what it is like to live in an environment that instead of harboring Love, Comfort and Values, you find Jealousy, Deceit and Violence.  Where as what should be a Family figure who either nurtures or shares with you, instead you have betrayal and pointless competition.  It is for those unfortunate who have these situations (which would probably be the majority  vice the minority) the Holiday Season is a constant reminder of that which we should but do not have in their Life.

I find that there are a lot of conservatives who have trouble stomaching the idea that you can have Family that is not your blood.  It is important for me to make this statement:  Blood Family is very important, however any human can combine genetic sequences and proteins to create a child, but it takes REAL Family to raise a child.  So truly Family is where you find it.  Family comes in many forms.  Perhaps your grand parents are not those whom you live with or visit, but perhaps it is the old crone who lives down the street who bends your ear to wisdom and warms you with her smile.  Perhaps the one who is your mother is the one who brings you comfort, nurses your wounds and encourages you to do better and open your heart.  Perhaps the one who is your father is the older man who you respect who protects you and passes one words of knowledge and guidance.  Family is one that helps you grow, one that makes you better, one that loves you unconditionally.

In these trying times it’s hard to remember who your Family is and sometimes we find ourselves left out in the cold.  Let us not forget that the younger generation looks up to the old heads within the Juggalo Nation.  If you have the ability please open your home or organize a holiday party in your area so that the Juggalos who feel left out during the Holidays feel that they have a place to go.  I remember when I was stationed in Virginia Beach we would organize a picnic or sometimes a Secret Ninja Santa.  We would do something so that the folks who couldn’t celebrate with warmth by a fire at least felt the warmth of our hearts.

Happy Holidays this season and remember that it isn’t the gifts that we buy or the tree that we decorate, but it’s the Peace and Goodwill towards Mankind.  These are the things worth holding onto this Christmas.

Plentiful Harvest

Posted on December 2nd, 2010

Sup Juggalos,

We all deal with the slings and arrows of today’s living.  Surmounting a mountain is possible as long as you have a sure footing.  But in today’s world I really have to ask the question “is there still Faith?”  Tramatized by what we see in the news everyday.  Shocked by the lengths of debauchery and the horrible crimes that people are willing to commit on each other.  Life loses its preciousness.  Evil people run rampant killing children in the night.  What has happened in the world?  How long does it take for this disease to infect the Love that is “supposed” to reside in our Family?  Or has it already?  It is so hard to have a church, cultivate a church in a world that is at war.  I have had a hard time trading with my Mission that requires me to wear a uniform and my Mission that requires me to pray.  When the church first started our support was endless.  The Congregation was packed.  The volunteers were plenty and yet when asked to make sacrifices those who eagerly rose their hand quickly hid amongst the masses.  Some were unable to help because Life happens and we have to support our families and work jobs.  Thus like every garden that has been felled we stand up and rebuild as always.  But the words that Christ has to offer provides me with some guidance.

35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

There are so many who are hurt.  There are so many who are in pain.  We can go from city to city and dig through the pockets of the sorrowful and find that plentiful is the ninja whose heart hurts.  Plentiful is the ninja who struggles to pay their bills or simply just live.  Plentiful is the ninja who has lost their Faith or is losing their Faith.  But the workers are few…  The people who care are few… The people who love are few… We distance ourselves and yet who should care.  Does it take a priest?  Does it take a reverend?  No…because any of you can care.  Any of you can pick up the axe.  Any of you can pick up the hoe.  Any of you can tend the flock and harvest the field.  We need only to care…only to open our hearts…only to listen and only to love.  Which one of you will go into the garden and just listen, just love?

Cyber Bullying

Posted on November 7th, 2010

Sup Juggalos,

You know with today’s technology, the internet, cell phones, and social networking we are capable of being in contact with anybody at anytime.  Unless you’re trying to contact me that’ll be a little difficult.  Nonetheless, with the changing times and the information age it seems that problems that didn’t exist back when I was a teenager are rearing their ugly heads and are a big problem for today’s youth.  Have you ever met a teenager that doesn’t have a cell phone?  This is a teen’s life blood.  I didn’t grow up with cell phones, email or texting.  I remember when I first joined the Navy in September 1994, the only way to get a hold of someone was to either call with a prepaid calling card or to write them a letter.  Letters only got through if the Helicopter came, and if the Helo crashes like one of mine did, then you’re poop out of luck.  You see kids these days and they can’t live without that cell phone.  The worst thing you can do is to take away a kid’s cell.  It’s like an electronic leash.  I was at a church service and this teenager was texting.  The conversation must have got heated because she was mashing those keys.  And then she run and tell her friend what the person on the other line was saying to offend her.  I asked if I could see her phone.  She handed it to me…I turned it off.  She looked at me like I was a freakazoid.  I was like “What?! Now you don’t have to worry about anyone pissing you off.  I tried to explain to her that she had the power.  She had the power not to respond or she had the power to respond to it later.  She stared at me if she didn’t understand the concept.  What do you mean I can screen my calls?  What do you mean I can block?  What do you mean that I have an option not to listen to their bullshit?

I can’t seem to find very many people who can say that they weren’t picked on or bullied to some extent while going to school.  Those years are a difficult time.  Kids are cruel and fitting in isn’t always the case, especially if you come from a different culture, or background.  One could easily say that we haven’t fully established our Individual selves until we are older.  But in this awkward period we should all have the right to experience our own confusions and self realizations unmolested and unharmed.  We must also remember and come to realize that with today’s technology it may not be so simple to walk away from or is it?  Ultimately who is responsible for internet activity?  Who is responsible for the actions of our children?   It’s an age old question that seems to become more difficult and yet so simple to answer.  The media and governments will battle and say that our children’s actions is the responsibility of one organization or another.  They will shoulder the blame of our youth’s behavior on video games, music or the school system.  Ultimately, however, the responsibility of our children belongs to us.  Us, meaning the adults, the parents, and the children themselves.  Parents can control access to websites and the purchase of games or music.  Education is the key when teaching our children right from wrong.  Unfortunately not every parent shares in this responsibility and that is why the phrase rings more true today then before “It takes a village to raise a child”.

But what of bullying?  Bullying can come from a many different profiles of people, many forms and can happen to anyone.  Traditionally the Bully use to be a kids who hated their own life and decided that the only way that they could feel satisfaction is by making other people feel less than them.  In some ways this is still true.  But now the Bully can be an elitist who actually believes that they are better than everyone else and the only way to maintain that superiority to beat down the little people.  Recognizing who the bullies are isn’t as near as important as curbing bully behavior.  It takes a social change of non-tolerance when it comes to bullying.  Education in schools shouldn’t be limited to a single classroom exercise, but should be expanded as to not just a part of the mandatory curriculum but should become part of the faculty and student body mentality.  Each student should be encourage to suppress bullying behavior and encouraged to turn in the bullies.  Each faculty member should confidentially receive all reports of bullying and should stand up for the victim even if it isn’t the popular thing to do.

Most of all, is our young’s inner feelings.  In a society that has little room for the outcast, can we at least preach Acceptance.  Not just for the masses but shouldn’t our children be taught to accept and Love themselves for who they are.  A human trait, no doubt, to constantly seek the Acceptance and want for belonging and human compassion.  We must teach our young that it’s okay to be different and that when you or someone else is different that they shouldn’t outcast, made fun of or even injured.  It is our differences that make us whole as a people.  Embrace those differences and foster self-esteem instead of self-loathing.

How Do I Become A Juggalo

Posted on November 6th, 2010

Sup Juggalos,

This sermon is designed to assist young and curious ninjas who ask the question “How do I become a Juggalo?”  I ask that people reading this sermon, read it from start to finish.  I say this because I’m sure that some of you have already begun to prejudge and believe that it is my intention to tell people who is and who is not a Juggalo.  That is not my intention.

Sometimes when I check my facebook, myspace or even check out my email, I get messages from young ninjas who either have heard about Juggalos, hang out with Juggalos or in some cases dating a Lo or Lette.  Being curious about other people’s cultures is a natural thing, especially when you find something attractive about that culture that may not be available in your life.  Young people sometimes bounce from one culture to the next.  Typically what we learn from those experiences help to develop us spiritually and emotionally.  So the real question isn’t “How do I become a Juggalo?”, the real question is what positive experiences can a person hope to gain from Juggalos and what can one hope to find by becoming a Juggalo?

New Ninjas have to understand that the Juggalo Culture although brought together by the Universal language and tool of music, is not defined by music.  Yes, it is true that a vast majority of Juggalos can be defined as fans of the Insane Clown Posse, it is not ICP that makes us Juggalos.  Even ICP themselves state that a Juggalo doesn’t have to listen to ICP.  Music is a product of the people, we are not a product of it.  Music doesn’t make people do things, it is the Individual who makes the choice to do right or wrong.  New Ninjas must know that the foundation at which this culture exists is Family.  Without Family WE ARE NOTHING.  Without Family We are simply non-sprouted seeds blowing in the wind, with no direction or purpose.  The Fellowship Of Juggalos teaches that Family is our foundation and also teaches that Family is where you find it.  In other words, the concept of Family is not just restricted by the ties of blood lines, but are strengthened by the ties of spiritual lines.  Family isn’t just limited to your Juggalo Family, it is also extended to all people whom you trust and have love for.  It is important for Juggalos to understand that being a Juggalo doesn’t replace your blood Family, but should strengthen those bonds.  Because understanding that Family is the all important thing in your Life should allow you to appreciate your Family more.  However, not all of us come from Loving Families and so that is why Family is where you find it.

Some of our youth want to join and become part of the “next big clique” or group.  Young people tend to morph themselves into their surroundings instead of relying on themselves and their values.  We are a culture of Individuals.  This is because each one of us is so diverse.  Diversity is to be embraced.  Each one of us bring a piece to the greater pie that is Universal Life.  It is important to note that when hanging out with a group of people that sometimes we are forced to make moral decisions as to whether something is right or wrong.  When our morality is challenge it is easy to rely upon the group mentality to base our decisions, this is why recognizing your Individuality and being able to go against the grain without fear of reprisal is what defines us.  Never be afraid to put your foot down in the face of wrong doing.  The words “everyone else was doing it” hold no meaning in the face of the Carnival.

So how does one become a Juggalo?  There is no initiation.  No lewd acts that you must commit to gain someone’s acceptance or trust.  You just need to hold dear to that which is common to all cultures.  Family, Individuality and Acceptance.  The Juggalo Creed teaches us these things, but it is not a governing creed.  It only governs the hearts of those who allow it.  Open yourself up to new explorations and open yourself up to the Carnival.  Strip away Hate.  Denounce Bigotry.  Fear Not and Want Not.  And walk down your path to Shangri La.

Issues Of The Law

Posted on November 6th, 2010

Sup Juggalos,

I know that I haven’t posted in a while.  I have transferred Departments and now I am on 12 hour shifts.  There will be times I can do Sunday Services Live on MJS Radio on Sunday and there will be times when I will not be able to do Sunday Services on Sunday.  Some days I may have to do it on Thursday.  Please stay tuned to updates on my Facebook and on MyJuggaloSpace.com.   I have to be honest with you when I say that my future looks bleak.  Not for church I must say but for my personal Life.  I won’t get into detail here.  But I’ve been bitter on some occasions and I would like to share that bitterness as I review the Fulfillment of the Laws and some common issues that we may or may not be facing.   Let us review these…

The Book of Matthew says that Christ says:

17"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.   With that being said, Christ didn’t want to take away from Mosaic or Hebrew Law but he wanted to enhance it.

Murder

21"You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not murder,[a] and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.' 22But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother[b]will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, 'Raca, (a town) [c]' is answerable to the Sanhedrin (assembly or court system). But anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell.

23"Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.

25"Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still with him on the way, or he may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison. 26I tell you the truth, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.[d]

We worry about the big things in Life, like murder, rape, stealing.  Rarely do we even consider that even the simplest attribute can be just as bad as the more complex.  In the eyes of the Carnival Hatred and evil thoughts are just as bad as heinous misdeeds.  We must be caring and considerate for each other, because judgement falls onto the man who kills as well as the man who back stabs.  Do your best not to judge and do your best to right your wrongs.  Be fair in your actions and fair in your judgements and the Carnival shall be fair to you.

Adultery

27"You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.'[e] 28But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

I have struggled with this law.  I regret that I am human.  I regret that I too am lustful and with desires.  I too, cannot just look at the tree without wondering the taste of its fruit.  I recognize and understand the animal or demon that lies within that sniffs the air looking for prey.  I understand that my eyes are in front which makes me a predator.  Defeating the beast with a sense of morality is where faith and strength come into play.  Be wary if you lust too much than you will act upon your lust and when you act upon the lusts of what’s fake you could put in jeopardy what is real.

Divorce

31"It has been said, 'Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.'[f] 32But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.

It would be nice if the interpersonal relationships of Man and Woman or whatever the case may be were clear cut and defined.  But the truth is that these interpersonal relationship are way different than they were back in those times.  Man and Woman do not get along as they should.  I believe that everyone has the right to feel happy, wanted, and safe.  Divorce isn’t always a solution but sometimes there is no other way.  I do not wish to suffer in a relationship that has no end and the misery that ensues it.

Oaths

33"Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not break your oath, but keep the oaths you have made to the Lord.' 34But I tell you, Do not swear at all: either by heaven, for it is God's throne; 35or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King. 36And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black. 37Simply let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.

Very simply, don’t make promises that you can’t keep.  I have found that promises lead to broken hearts.  We loosely say “promise” to either get ourselves out of trouble or stop someone from nagging us.   There was once a day when our word meant something.  If you said that you were going to do something than you did it.  Now we just dismiss people as if what’s important to them is blah blah blah.  We must listen and say what we feel and feel what we say.

An Eye for an Eye

38"You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.'[g] 39But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. 41If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. 42Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

You must understand that Christ was a pacifist.  You shall see more examples throughout the New Testament.  You must ask yourself what does violence solve you though.  Is there not a better way to resolve an issue?  Unfortunately sometimes there is not.  “Sometimes you have to fight to be a man” Kenny Rogers.

Love for Enemies

43"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor[h] and hate your enemy.' 44But I tell you: Love your enemies[i

] and pray for those who persecute you, 45that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

I love my haters.  They give me a reason to exist.  I would not be doing a good job if the Devil didn’t send someone to hate on me.  But be that I’m right or be that I’m wrong I shall find out in my afterlife.  But I digress and say that when I’m bitter like a child I rebel.  I rebel because I am selfish at times.  I rebel because I am unhappy.  I rebel because I am stubborn and cannot bend.  Maybe I am too human to abide by the law.  Driven by instincts I stomp through Life picking and choosing what suits me.  But maybe there is nothing wrong with that.  Maybe these words are outdated and like many sermons of the past, they fall on deaf ears.  I do not know.  I am at a loss.  Torn between what the Spirit tells me is right and what I want to tell myself is right.  I guess I’m a sinner and you know what I’m okay with being a sinner.  I’m okay with being a slob and a dirty-minded old fool.  I’m okay with my desires and I’m okay with my past mistakes.  I feel that I have made peace with God.  I’m sure that I will make more mistakes because I’m human and unfortunately we do not learn as well as we should.  Perhaps sometimes I’m hypocritical because I don’t want to see people do the same things and live with the same mistakes.  Maybe I’ve become more focused.  Or maybe I’m still no matter how I spin it a sinner.  But I’m cool, because I know that someone has been sent to save me from death caused by my sin.  I live day by day.  I’m proud of the good days and I learn from the bad ones.  I’m an old man and I accept who I am and know that it’s what develops me.  My guilt and my sorrow is never knowing what the future holds.  But I am happy because I know that wherever the road may lay I shall find my Path to Shangri La.  I will be strong as I can be and when I grow weak from my desires then I shall make the road straight again and seek forgiveness.  But for now…I am me and I am happy with me.
